Setting Up a Calendar
If your unit wants a calendar of events on your website, follow these steps.
Enter all events into Mason’s 25Live System, and tag them appropriately. If you have not used 25Live before or are unsure if you are using it correctly, contact Samantha Price, Assistant Director, Scheduling, University Events, 703-993-9594. Set up a call/meeting for guidance on how to get the best results from 25Live by tagging your events correctly.
You will have a choice of two templates. Both are very similar in the way they work, but the appearance is slightly different. Choose from:
- The Basic Template, which is used on the Today @ Mason calendar.
- The Performance Events Template, which is used on the CVPA Events calendar. This template allows you to group a multi-date event under one listing. For example, there might be three or four performances of a play. There will be one item about the play in the calendar, with the performance dates and times listed underneath.
When you have selected the style you want, contact Digital Communications Project Manager Kelly Hansen. Tell Kelly which colors you’re using on your site so they can be programmed into your calendar spud. (A spud is the calendar code written for the website.) If you have a small calendar on your home page, you'll also get a spud for that.
Kelly will send the spud codes to the people populating your site, so it’s a good idea to cc them on any emails you exchange.
When you build this page, use the unit landing page template. Create a landing page, then select the unit landing page template in the drop-down menu.
To place the spud codes, create a body text box, then change the default underneath the box to HTML No Editor.
You'll get about four or five spuds, with each labeled as to what it is. Call up a version of the calendar that already exists (Today @ Mason, CVPA Events), and use it as a guide to place your spuds on the page.
